Intern Architect

Bell & Spina, Architects-Planners is seeking an Intern Architect with 1 to 3 years experience in a U.S. office to join our team and work on a variety of projects for K-12 and Higher Education clients. The desired candidate will be responsible for the day to day production of contract documents and assisting the Project Manager with projects through Construction Administration. The ideal candidate will have proven skills in design and construction documents, construction administration and project management on small projects. A professional degree in architecture is desirable with a minimum of 1 to 3 years professional experience. Experience with AutoCAD required, Revit experience is desirable. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to communicate with clients, consultants and contractors. Bell & Spina, Architects-Planners is a small professional firm located in downtown Syracuse comprised of architects and building enclosure specialists. Our focus is complex projects specific to roofing and building enclosure. We offer a flexible work schedule, employer paid health insurance and a 401(k) plan with employer contributions.

Project Manager

The Project Manager is responsible for the overall design and financial management of projects assigned to them.  They represent the firm with clients and consultants ensuring projects meet or exceed the expectations of our clients.  The Project Manager may serve as sole designer on small projects, supervise other designers within the firm on larger or multiple projects, or work directly with another Project Manager on a project.

Requirements:

  • The Project Manager is either a licensed Architect or Engineer in good standing in the state of New York or an unlicensed graduate with 10 years of relevant experience with a strong background in managing large or multiple projects. 

  • Excellent professional communication and interpersonal skills are required to communicate with clients, consultants, contractors and other contributors to projects.  Must be able to speak effectively in public to make presentations on projects related to the firm, communicate intent and be persuasive in reports and letters to prospective and current clients.

  • Take a leadership role in handling diverse situations and a diversity of people; assisting others in handling calmly and efficiently situations ranging from routine to emergency.  Exhibits sound and accurate judgment with an ability to work with others in making difficult decisions.

  • Excellent time management, memory, and organizational abilities, in order to set priorities, delegate tasks, organize workload, handle multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.

  • Possess the ability to handle multiple interruptions and adjustments to priorities throughout the day.  A Project Manager needs to be comfortable working independently as well as leading teams with multiple contributors on projects; able to multi-task projects, people, and events to meet project deadlines.  The Project Manager plays a leadership role within the firm, supporting others in their roles and responsibilities to ensure the smooth running of the office, a positive work environment and achieving the goals and objectives of the firm’s strategic plan.

Building Enclosure Architect Designer/Drafter

Bell & Spina, Architects-Planners, P.C. is a full service mid-sized architectural firm with expertise in the sciences of the building enclosure. We are currently offering full time employment opportunities in our Syracuse office. Successful candidates will be active in a collaborative environment involving field investigations, report writing, construction document preparation and construction phase tasks working on multiple projects.

Requirements

  • A desire to excel in the field of architecture including exterior enclosure systems, façade, glazing and roof systems for institutional, commercial and municipal buildings.

  • Minimum Associate or Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, building sciences or related field.

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in an A/E office or related construction environment.

  • Critical thinking with ability to balance multiple assignments, time management, and working collaboratively with others.

  • AutoCAD proficiency is required. Revit, SketchUp and Photoshop are desirable.
